inspiration of the week: India Hicks
Here's a look at one of my all-time favorite living rooms. I find it to be warm, inviting and totally livable. The home, Hibiscus Hill was designed and renovated by the talented David Flint Wood and India Hicks, located on Harbor Island in the Bahamas.
I’m in love with the pink sofa and black patterned pillows. The space has so much character. The room has an equal amount of feminine touches as it does masculine pieces. The bold pink sofa and female artwork contrast with the masculine leather ottoman, the wooden boxes on top of the coffee table and the clean-lined Parsons' tables. Some of the best designed and most welcoming rooms tend to be not too feminine nor too masculine.
Our home is a storehouse of family history, a living archive that holds the treasures of our personal life. It speaks of where we've been, who we are and the distinctive style cultivated by our journey together. - India Hicks

British and design royalty
If you’re not familiar with India Hicks, she is the daughter of the famous interior designer David Hicks and her mother is Lady Pamela Hicks (Mountbatten; if you have watched The Crown series on Netflix than this name should be familiar). Lady Pamela Hicks is the first cousin of Prince Philip. In 1981 at age 13, India was a bridesmaid in the wedding between Lady Diana Spencer and Prince Charles. That alone is pretty impressive.
If you happen to be around my age, you may recognize India. She was a model for both Ralph Lauren and JCrew back in the ‘90s. India is also the mother of 5, and she runs a very successful business that sells exclusive handbags, accessories, jewelry, beauty products, and fine fragrances. IndiaHicks.com
Her products are not sold in retail stores: instead, they are sold by a group of spirited entrepreneurs, known as Ambassadors, at in-home events, or get-togethers, and online. Be sure to check out her new arrivals.
Harbour Island is a place of simple elegance
If you like India Hicks design style as much as I do, it’s possible to rent her three homes, the main house, the guest house, and the studio, on Harbour Island in the Bahamas. You can also rent Savannah, designed by her famous father David Hicks on Windermere Island.
Learn more about them via the Hibiscus Hill, Harbour Island website.
How fun would it be to vacation at the homes of both British and design royalty!
